KDF Filtration in Soddy Daisy, TN

KDF Filtration in Soddy Daisy, TN

KDF is a copper and zinc granular media. It removes free chlorine through a redox reaction, which means it keeps working in hot water where carbon struggles. It also slows bacterial growth inside the filter bed and reduces some dissolved heavy metals.

Soddy Daisy, TN Whole House Water Filtration uses KDF in Soddy Daisy, TN homes in two main ways. The first is as a top layer in a whole house carbon tank. The KDF handles the bulk of the chlorine, and the carbon below it lasts longer. The second is in shower filters, where hot water and short contact time make carbon a poor choice on its own.

KDF has limits. It is not a strong answer for chloramine, PFAS or fluoride, and it can release small amounts of zinc when new. A short flush after install clears that.

We match KDF to your water rather than adding it to every job. If your utility uses chloramine, catalytic carbon usually does more good. If you are on free chlorine with a lot of hot water use, KDF is worth the space in the tank.
